Many boarding schools offer soccer as part of their regular athletics programs while a few can claim to be turning out soccer stars.
The great thing about boarding school is that you can head out to the soccer pitch at any time to punch a ball around or practice skills with your dorm mates. Your coach might even be around to offer you some weekend tips to help you improve. Boarding school lets you immerse yourself in athletics, academics... any aspect of any program that you want to.
You can bet that your soccer game will reach new heights here, like it can in no other school environment. Coaches and teachers at boarding schools bring a unique passion to everything they do. Just ask the students themselves.
"Our coach is so easily approachable. He's a soccer fanatic. He lives and breathes soccer."
—Jocelyn, Trinity College School

Why boarding school soccer is unique: great coaches, flexible schedules
At boarding school you'll work with some of the most dedicated coaches and teachers imaginable. We've profiled one great coach, Chris Robert of Trinity College School, in the magazine Our Kids Go to School. After graduating from the school, students like Mr. Robert so much they come back to visit. In turn, Robert points out that boarding school expectations are high for teachers and coaches; coaches or teachers there are expected to stay one evening a week until 10:30 pm. A student points out that this creates a "strong sense of community. You never feel shy to go ask a question."
Another aspect of boarding school athletics like soccer programs is that there is less of a need for compression of time you might need in a regular high school. If you love soccer but don't want to miss band practice, there's time to schedule around both activities. One headmaster puts it: "In a public school band practice and soccer practice might be at the same time, so the student has to choose what he wants to do. But in a boarding school, it's built into the program that everybody has time to do both."
There are many advantages of boarding school soccer programs. You can learn more by investigating schools listed above.
