Therapeutic Boarding Schools

A therapeutic boarding school can help you grow in ways you never imagined. In Canada, therapeutic boarding schools are more regulated than the broad industry that has arisen in the United States. These schools provide therapeutic programs where students, teachers and other staff create a community that is supportive, facilitating individual growth. Although this may not necessarily be true of every school listed here, quite often these schools can be found in a rural environment that contributes to the therapeutic aspect of the school.

A note to parents

Therapeutic boarding schools often focus on "emotional growth education" based on theories or models developed by Abraham Maslow, Erik Erikson and others.

Schools listed here offer regular classes along with specialized structures and an environment offering help and supervision for students with emotional or behavioral problems, issues with substance abuse or learning difficulties.
